2024 Pursuer of Peace Awards

The Rodef Shalom Congregation's Pursuer of Peace Award ceremony honored Laura Ellsworth and Mark Nordenberg for their exceptional work in promoting peace and understanding.

Laura Ellsworth, Partner-in-Charge of Global Community Service Initiatives at Jones Day, and Mark Nordenberg, Chancellor Emeritus of the University of Pittsburgh, were recognized for their co-founding of the Eradicate Hate Global Summit. This initiative, established in response to the tragic antisemitic attack in Pittsburgh, has grown to become the world's most comprehensive hate conference.

The award ceremony, held on June 23rd, 2024, the same day as the groundbreaking ceremony for the new Tree of Life synagogue. This alignment served as a powerful symbol of hope and resilience in the face of hate.

By recognizing these leaders and their impactful work, the Rodef Shalom Congregation reinforces the importance of interfaith understanding, social justice, and humanitarian efforts in creating a more peaceful world.
